It sounds like you guys work more closely with your nurses.

I don't think that the medics even understand the difference between a nurse and an hca.

One day I was running around like a nut because I was the lone RN. Meds needed to be given, discharges were getting delayed because I was so busy, two patients were critically ill and needing multiple orders implemented, mostly for drugs I didn't have on the ward.

Three ambulance transport crews were standing there looking at me but I hadn't finished completing the discharge stuff so they couldn't take the patients. Had to sort the critically ill patients before I started working on the discharges obviously.

The care assistants were hanging out at the nurse's station having a chat. They cannot help me with any of the stuff that I describe above. Not one iota of it and they really aren't willing to anyway.

A consultant walks onto the ward, looks at the care assistants hanging around chatting and says "Well well well, the nurses don't appear to be working very hard today. I guess that's why the patients I discharged this morning are still here".

The ambulance transport guys nodded in agreement with the consultant.

Twats all of them.Nurse Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05400048448105519082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8489009971732520747.post-18041655192267490712010-08-04T21:33:40.600+01:002010-08-04T21:33:40.600+01:00Wow, that sounds like a very civilised way to work...Wow, that sounds like a very civilised way to work. The Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02368935358031860432noreply@blogger.com
